Possui asas relativamente curtas, largas e arredondadas. Tem uma cabe\u00e7a grande e arredondada, sem penachos. A sua colora\u00e7\u00e3o, muito cr\u00edptica, varia entre o castanho-arruivado e o castanho-acinzentado e a plumagem \u00e9 totalmente malhada com finas riscas e manchas escuras. Nesta esp\u00e9cie ocorre dimorfismo sexual, sendo a f\u00eamea maior e mais pesada que o macho.<\/p><p><em><span style=\"color: #b5b3b0;\">The tawny owl is a medium-sized raptor with a compact appearance and is crepuscular and nocturnal. It has relatively short, broad, and rounded wings. Its head is large and round, without tufts. The coloration, which is highly cryptic, ranges from reddish-brown to grayish-brown, and the plumage is entirely mottled with fine streaks and dark spots. Alimenta-se de mam\u00edferos, em particular roedores, pequenas aves, anf\u00edbios, r\u00e9pteis, anel\u00eddeos (ex: minhocas) e insetos que captura no solo, ap\u00f3s dete\u00e7\u00e3o a partir de um poiso. Realiza um tipo de voo com batimentos relativamente r\u00e1pidos e deslizes longos.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #b5b3b0;\"><em>The tawny owl has a very varied diet; it is a generalist predator. It feeds on mammals, particularly rodents, small birds, amphibians, reptiles, annelids (e.g., earthworms), and insects, which it captures on the ground after detecting them from a perch. Foram entregues pelo CERVAS ao Parque Ecol\u00f3gico de Gouveia para viverem at\u00e9 ao final da sua vida sem necessidade de ca\u00e7ar ou de se protegerem de predadores, servindo para a educa\u00e7\u00e3o e consciencializa\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental.<\/p><p><em><span style=\"color: #b5b3b0;\">This bird was considered unfit to live in the wild, due to factors related to human activity. They were delivered by CERVAS to the Gouveia Ecological Park to live until the end of their lives without the need to hunt or protect themselves from predators, serving for education and environmental
